The Ontario Press Council will consider complaints against online material and material on other platforms, providing it was written by a staff member or regular freelancer for the news outlet's official web site or platform. Blogs will be treated as opinion pieces and will be given appropriate latitude, as is given to columns, editorials, published letters and other material understood to be personal comment. Comment by a reader, solicited or not, will not be considered for adjudication. News outlets should be notified as soon as possible about questionable material and given a reasonable amount of time to address the complaint. In those instances, the Press Council would consider adjudication based on the news organization's response to the complainant.
